Joining Tech Table

These terms apply to the Tech Table website and lunch-matching service. By creating an account or completing signup, you agree to them. Contact us at hello@techtable.club if you have a question about membership or these terms.

Provide accurate details, use your own email and profile links, and keep your account secure. Keep your profile and preferred lunch area up to date. Please let us know if someone else gains access to your account.

How the club works

We aim to introduce you to two nearby people in tech each month. Matching currently operates in Sydney and depends on having enough eligible members nearby. We use approximate postcode locations and review proposed groups before confirming them. A match in every month, a particular person or a particular outcome is not guaranteed.

After an introduction, your group chooses the time and place and arranges its own lunch. Be open to a weekday lunch near you, reply to your tablemates and let them know if your plans change. We do not book venues or supervise meetups.

Joining a city waitlist lets us contact you about availability. It does not create a membership or promise a launch date or a place in a group.

The pilot and pricing

New members receive one free month after confirming their email, with no card or payment required. This gives you one introduction to two people; it stays available if you skip a month or aren’t matched. After using it, you may choose the paid plan: $20 AUD for 3 months / 3 credits, paid at checkout. One credit covers one monthly introduction. Joining for free does not enable payments or renewal. Existing card-based memberships keep their agreed terms. Unused credits carry over. Paid renewals are reviewed before matching, only when you have zero credits, renewal enabled and aren’t skipping. Later packs are due no earlier than the 5th three months after payment. If no table is found, your credits stay available and delay further renewal. Payments require an admin review. Cancel renewal in Membership settings.

A pilot account will not automatically become a paid subscription. Before taking a payment, we will show the applicable price, billing period, any renewal arrangement and cancellation terms, and ask you to agree. We do not collect payment card details during the pilot.

Launch promotion

Enter techtable26 at checkout before its displayed expiry on 31 December 2026 for 50% off your first paid 3-credit pack: $10 AUD, then $20 AUD for later packs. Your free introduction stays free. An accepted offer stays saved if credits, skipped months or an unmatched month delay your first payment, including into the next year. One discounted pack per account. Referral credits can be used alongside this offer.

Invite a friend

Share your personal invite link with a new member. When they create their account through that link and choose the paid plan after their free month, you earn one introduction credit. Their first introduction is free. One reward is available per new account; you cannot refer yourself or add a referral to an existing account. Rewards have no cash value. If your payment is already being processed, the reward is added after that payment check finishes.

Skipping, pausing and leaving

You can skip a monthly cycle before your group is confirmed or pause future matching in Membership settings. Pausing keeps confirmed groups and unused credits. Resuming makes you eligible for future matching while you have credits, subject to availability. Complimentary pilot memberships keep their original end date.

You can leave by deleting your account in Membership settings. Deleting your account removes your participation, but does not recall emails already delivered to your tablemates. If you cannot attend an already-arranged lunch, please tell your group. Contact us if you need help with your account.

Respect your tablemates

  • Be respectful. Harassment, discrimination, threats, impersonation and scams are not acceptable.
  • Use shared contact details to connect with your group. Do not add members to mailing lists, send unwanted sales messages or publish their details without permission.
  • Share only information and links you have permission to provide. Do not upload unlawful material or try to access another person’s account or private data.
  • Respect a member’s choice to decline a meeting or end a conversation.

Member profiles are self-reported; an introduction is not an identity check or endorsement. Choose a public venue and a plan you are comfortable with. Report concerns to hello@techtable.club.

Your information

Introductions require sharing your name, email, profile details and links with your confirmed tablemates. Phone, suburb and postcode sharing follow the choices in your profile. We still keep and use your postcode for matching when you turn postcode sharing off.

Our Privacy Policy explains collection, hosting, sharing, retention and deletion. You keep ownership of the content you provide and allow us to store and display it as needed to operate your account and make the introductions you request. This does not give us permission to use your profile in advertising.

Problems and account restrictions

We may temporarily restrict an account or end participation where reasonably necessary to address a serious or repeated breach of these terms, suspected fraud, a security or safety concern, or a legal requirement. Where practicable, we will explain the reason and give you an opportunity to respond. Urgent safety or security concerns may require action first. Contact us if you think a restriction is a mistake.

The service may occasionally be interrupted for maintenance or technical problems. If something goes wrong with your account or introduction, contact us so we can investigate.

Your rights

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies a consumer guarantee, remedy or other right that cannot lawfully be excluded under Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law. Any refund or other remedy required by law remains available. These terms do not remove our responsibility where the law makes us responsible.

Members are responsible for their own conduct and lunch arrangements. We cannot promise that another member will attend, reply or be a suitable personal or professional connection. This description of the service does not limit your legal rights.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms as the service develops. We will publish the updated terms with a new date and give reasonable advance notice through the website or email of material changes, unless an urgent legal or security issue requires earlier action. Changes will not apply retrospectively. If you do not wish to continue, you can leave the pilot without a cancellation fee. Any future paid service will require a separate agreement to its payment terms.

For questions, complaints or help resolving a problem, email hello@techtable.club. We will review the issue and work with you on the next steps. You may also seek help from the relevant consumer protection authority or pursue any other remedy available to you.
